FMPI have always had a passion for dance, from a young age i have studied ballet, modern, tap, and street danceing but my ultimate favourite was tap. The amount of concentration needed to get the timing right to the music has always fascinated me, and more and more moves and styles of tap are being created. My main inspiration has to be Bill Bojangles Robinson he was the most famous of all African American tap dancers in the twentieth century. Dancing upright and swinging, his light and exacting footwork brought tap “up on its toes” from an earlier flat-footed shuffling style, and developed the art of tap dancing to a delicate perfection.
He still is one of the best tap dancers to this day.
I want to create several dances of my own with various music, and then create visual graphic pieces that reflect the sounds, movements and emotions of the rhythm, which i want to publish in a book. I want to mainly concentrate on the sound of the different taps and various speeds and create an animation which wouldnt be noticeable as tap dancing but which would show all of the passion and training used to create such an amazing art.
